Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has rubber-stamped a Subsidy on Kidney Dialysis, slashing the Cost From  ₦50,000 to ₦12,000

StartSmart Nigeria gathered that President Bola Tinubu has agreed to a subsidy on kidney dialysis treatment, curbing the cost per session from ₦50,000 to ₦12,000 in select public hospitals. The initiative, publicizing this on Monday, August 18, is expected to ease the financial burden on thousands of Nigerians living with kidney-related diseases.

Subsidy to Begin in 10 Public Hospitals

According to the presidency, the subsidy will initially be execute in 10 federal and teaching hospitals across the six geopolitical zones. Patients in these centers have already begun accessing dialysis at the new subsidized rate.

The hospitals include:

  1. Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Ebute Meta, Lagos
  2. Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, Abuja
  3. University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo
  4. Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri, Imo
  5. University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), Borno
  6. Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Ogun
  7. Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Lagos
  8. Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Azare
  9. University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Edo
  10. University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), Cross River
