SIM Card Services to Face Temporary Disruption Nationwide Amid NIMC Platform Switch
StartSmart Nigeria made known that the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) has publicized that SIM-related services across all mobile networks in the country will experience temporary disruptions.
This update was conveyed in a statement issued on Tuesday by Mr. Gbenga Adebayo, the ALTON Chairman, and Publicity Secretary, Mr. Damian Udeh.
According to the statement, the disruption is a result of the National Identity Management Commission’s (NIMC) directive to migrate to a new identity verification platform.
Mr. Adebayo narrates that while the new system is designed to enhance the integrity and efficiency of Nigeria’s identity management infrastructure, the transition has presented unforeseen technical challenges that are currently affecting the availability of SIM services nationwide.
“The new platform aims to improve the integrity and efficiency of identity management systems,” he said.
“However, the transition has temporarily hindered Mobile Network Operators from offering seamless SIM-related services.”As a result, subscribers will be unable to process SIM swaps, replacements, new SIM activations, or related services during this period.
ALTON assured that its member operators are working closely with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), NIMC, and other relevant authorities to resolve the integration issues as quickly as possible. SIM Card Services
“We regret the inconvenience and urge subscribers to delay SIM-related requests until further notice,” Adebayo revealed.
He reiterated ALTON’s commitment to delivering secure, reliable, and high-quality telecom services and promised that timely updates would be issued as the situation evolves. SIM Card Services
