Court Sentences Gospel Singer Timilehin Ajayi to Death for Murder of NYSC Member Salome Adaidu

The High Court in Lafia, Nasarawa State, has jailed Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, the suspected killer of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Salome Adaidu, to death by hanging.

StartSmart Nigeria gathered that the order was given in a ruling on Friday by Justice Simon Aboki.

Ajayi faced trial on one count of culpable homicide contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria and was sentenced to death. he was found guilty of murdering and dismembering Adaidu.

It would be recalled that Ajayi was arrested in January 2025 and remanded at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Nasarawa State Police Command in Lafia, the Nasarawa State Capital, for the alleged murder of a 24-year-old member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), serving at Nicon Insurance in the Nation’s capital, Abuja.

Adaidu was murdered when she visited the suspect at his house in the Papalana axis at New Karshi in the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The suspect was nabbed Sunday, January 12, while trying to dispose of the head of the deceased after killing her and dismembering her body parts when she visited him at his house.

Ajayi stated that he did not plan to kill Adaidu, but that he carried out the act because they do not have time for each other.

During his interrogation, Ajayi admitted to the crime, disclosing that he had been in a one-year relationship with Adaidu.

He claimed that a heated argument escalated into a violent confrontation during which Adaidu allegedly tried to stab him with a knife.

Ajayi, who also promotes himself as a motivational speaker on TikTok, admitted that the rest of Adaidu’s body was at his residence.

The remains of Salome Adaidu have since been interred, as captured in a viral video showing mourners wailing during the burial.
