JAMB 2025 UTME. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that candidates for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will not be required to write their main exams outside the state where they registered.
This assurance was given by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, during a phone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.
🧾 Why Some Mock Candidates Were Posted Outside Their State
Dr. Benjamin clarified that while a few candidates took part in the UTME mock test outside their state of registration, this was due to limited availability of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres during the mock phase—not the main UTME.
“If centres for mock in Abuja are filled up and there were available centers in Nassarawa State, candidates will be sent there,” he explained.
He emphasized that such instances are unlikely during the main UTME, as a larger number of CBT centres will be activated, allowing candidates to take their exams within their state of residence.
📍 Early Registration Increases Centre Proximity
Benjamin further explained that early registration plays a key role in determining how close a candidate’s exam center will be.
If nearby centres are full, candidates may still be placed within their registered state, but not beyond its borders.
⚠️ Mock Exam Technical Issues Acknowledged
In a previous statement on Sunday, Dr. Benjamin acknowledged that some candidates experienced technical hitches during the UTME mock exam. He expressed regret over the inconvenience and noted that these issues were anticipated.
“The mock examination serves as a trial version of the UTME, allowing the board to test new innovations while helping candidates familiarize themselves with the CBT environment,” he said.
He added that these trials help address lapses and better prepare candidates for the real examination experience.
“JAMB urges all candidates to continue making the necessary sacrifices to ensure a better examination experience that effectively serves their interests,” he concluded.
🗓️ When Is the 2025 UTME?
The 2025 UTME is officially scheduled to begin on April 25, with thousands of candidates across Nigeria preparing for the high-stakes entrance examination.
