Tinubu Paris Trip. The Nigerian Presidency has moved swiftly to quash rumors suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu traveled to France for medical treatment, clarifying that the trip is strictly for official purposes.
Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser on Policy Communication to the President, addressed the speculation during an interview on Sunday Politics aired on Channels Television. He dismissed social media claims about Tinubu’s health as baseless and misleading.
“Sometimes on social media, somebody will be tweeting, you don’t even know who the person is; it can be somebody who has mental health issues somewhere,” Bwala stated.
“The president did not go to see a doctor; he’s on a working visit and we have been publishing his activities.”
The clarification comes after President Tinubu departed Nigeria on April 2, 2025, for a short working visit to Paris.
Tinubu’s Departure: No Medical Drama
A video released by the Presidency shows President Tinubu bidding farewell to senior government officials before boarding the presidential aircraft, further reinforcing the official nature of the trip.
Why Tinubu is in Paris
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga also confirmed the nature of the visit. According to him, the Paris trip serves as a strategic retreat for the president to:
- Review the progress of key national reforms
- Engage in high-level policy planning
- Prepare for his administration’s second anniversary
Onanuga emphasized that the trip is purely for governance purposes and added that the President is expected back in Nigeria by April 16, 2025.
Despite online chatter suggesting otherwise, the Presidency remains firm that President Tinubu’s Paris trip is a working visit, not a medical emergency. Officials urge the public to rely on verified sources rather than social media speculation.
